Marjolein Bastin

From a young age, Marjolein has been fascinated by nature; she deeply absorbed the sights, sounds, and scents of the natural world around her. As a young child growing up in the Netherlands, she began collecting treasures such as pinecones, feathers, seashells, and flowers. As soon as Marjolein could hold a paintbrush, she lovingly began capturing the beauty of nature in her sketches and paintings.

The paintbrush has remained her faithful companion throughout her life, enabling her to create an extensive body of work that reflects her passion for nature. Beautiful meadows filled with wildflowers and butterflies, birds gathering around the feeding table, insects exploring the forest floor — Marjolein finds inspiration everywhere.

Marjolein and her husband Gaston call the Netherlands home, and their many travels give Marjolein the opportunity to find inspiration in a wide variety of places, including the United States, Switzerland, and the Caribbean. Walking through forests, across sand dunes, along the beach, or through alpine meadows certainly inspires Marjolein’s next painting, but above all, it is a quiet walk through her own garden that awakens the urge to put brush to paper.
